Electric cars are better for the air we breathe. Since electric cars have zero tailpipe emissions, we can look forward to cleaner air when there are more electric cars on the road. Cleaner air means less disease in the world, which means less stress on public health systems, hospitals, and so on.

Zero fuel burn means zero emissions which is better for the environment and better for the air we breathe. On a local scale EV's make sense with heavy traffic being one of the major contributors to city pollution, although there remains some groups that argue electricity generation elsewhere still pollutes to the atmosphere. Also, when you drive, your car will emit zero toxins into the air we breath and you will be saving lives, provided you run over fewer people than average. Personally I hope you’ll take the electric car plus solar route, but either choice is better than the traditional approach.

Electric cars are a good enough next step, and a far better choice than their internal combustion engine counterparts, especially when it comes to improving the air we breathe.

Hybrids and electric vehicles are “eco-friendly” for a reason. Electric cars do not burn any fuel. They run solely on electricity, which means they don’t release any harmful chemicals into the air you breathe. Hybrids, on the other hand, are different from conventional and electric vehicles.

In the manufacturing process, electric vehicles will produce more global warming emissions than the average gasoline vehicle, because electric cars’ large lithium-ion batteries require a lot of materials and energy to build. (For example, manufacturing a mid-sized electric car with an 84-mile range, results in 15% more emissions.)
