the free go kart plans only require a brake band and brake drum. It is only driven with power to one wheel, and the passenger side wheel is not powered (dead axle). The live axle, is simply a solid axle that transfers power to both the rear wheels. Dead axle= 1 wheel drive, live axle= 2 wheel drive.
